CONCEPT STUDY HOTEL TORINO
IN COLLABORAZIONE CON GBPA
HTO
[...] The project investigates the LifeStyle Hotel using the volumes of a pre-existing building located in the heart of historical Turin, near Porta Palazzo. First, there is a typological reference to the place, namely the large covered market of Porta Palazzo. But it is even more interesting to highlight the themes of the language, or rather, the complexity of the city’s urban architectural language, where the baroque of Palazzo Carignano and Carlo Mollino’s Palazzo degli Affari coexist. The provocative facade of the building by Mollino, with its hyper-modern language, becomes an essential reference when rethinking the architecture that will have to cover the building in dialogue with the pre-existing and with the city. The same approach applies to indoor environments. We can say that the keywords that instruct the project are: urban complexity, uniqueness, contrast. These three principles will inform the image requirements, and combined with the functional ones will be the reference for designing all spaces.
The main objective is to build a "unique" environment, in both the common and private areas, to offer users an experience that moves away from a traditional hotel’s seriality.
